How To Sell T Shirts Online – The Tools We Use To Save Us Time

With all the technology out there to help starting a tshirt business, we wanted to help you get setup

and started with the same resources and tools we use here at LincolnContinentalT-Shirts.

Sell T Shirts Online

Start Your Website

Shopify – ecommerce site

The best and easiest way to start to sell t shirts online is to go with WordPress and use the Shopify WordPress plugin.

Already picked and painstakingly customized the perfect WordPress theme? With just a few clicks, you can now make any WordPress page or blog post shoppable using the free Shopify eCommerce Plugin.

Installing the WordPress eCommerce plugin adds the ability to easily drop products with buy buttons into any sidebar, page or blog post. Plus, you’ll get a slick pop-out shopping cart for your site, so customers can purchase multiple products at once.

The Shopify WordPress Ecommerce Plugin is free and can be used with any WordPress theme.

BlueHost – web hosting

When it comes to web hosting, you want something that will keep your site active and running nicely and you want to have great customer service for those times when things go wrong.

I have been using BlueHost on all my website for the past 10+ years and can say they are the best, and their tech support is always helpful, and a big plus is you can actually call them on the phone, FREE. Not many hosting companies offer that.

You can get started with BlueHost for about $5 per month and you get a FREE domain name too.

WordPress – main website

All of the non-shop portions of our site run on an installation of WordPress hosted on BlueHost.com. We like WordPress for its flexibility, easy setup and customizing and backend CMS that makes it easy to manage and update the various parts of our site.

AWeber – email marketing

If you want to sell t shirts online, then building your email list is probably the most important thing you can do as a new store owner. AWeber allows you to that that easily, plus helps you setup email follow up email campaigns to keep you in font of your customers and potential customers.

Email is perfect for keeping your brand top of mind and staying connected with those who make a purchase, read your blog or meet you in person.

Again AWeber is the only service I use on all my websites for email list building for 10+ years.

Popup Domination – convert visitors into sales & subscribers

Once you have your email service like AWeber we shared above, you will need to GET people onto your email list. Popup Domination is the tool I use to setup all type of forms quickly and easily.

They are a full service online app that let’s you setup, Email Themes, Redirect Themes, Countdown Themes, A/B Testing, PopUp Triggers, OnClick PopUps, Exit PopUps, Analytics, Fast Responsive Themes, Custom HTML/CSS/JS, Geographical Targeting, Page Specific PopUps, Referral Sites, Notification Popups, Referral Sites.

Adding subscribe forms is smart, but adding beautiful high converting forms is even smarter, and you can do that with Popup Domination.

WP Radius – wordpress maintenance and management

One of the smartest things I did recently was move my WordPress maintenance to the guys at WP Radius. This has freed up a lot of my time that I used to spend monitoring, updating, and cleaning my website.

WP Radius will do it all for you, have a question or need your site altered, or need an error fixed, their experts are there to help. They handle all of your site’s maintenance: we monitor your site’s security 24/7, update WordPress core & plugins, and run daily cloud backups.

If you want to keep your site safe and running at 100% and also free up A LOT of your time, WP Radius is a smart move.

Tools and Services

ShipStation – shipping orders

Shipping physical products is a huge amount of work. Having a lot of orders to fill is a beautiful thing right? Yes, but when you see how long the processing takes, you will quickly see why ShipStation is the way to go since they automate so much of the shipping process.

Using a service like ShipStaion makes a lot of sense since your time is better used in marketing and customer support outreach.

Xero – accounting

Once you are up and selling t shirts online and making money, you will want to get some accounting help. Xero makes things a little easier, it’s the best and cheapest service I have found and very happy with them.

Accounting is boring, but it’s a must have to keep your money right, let someone else handle it for you.

99 designs – logos and marketing designs

When I need a logo or any marketing materials or web design work, I always go to 99 design. They are the world’s largest online graphic design marketplace. They basically connect talented freelance designers with entrepreneurs, small business owners, really anyone who needs great design work.

Your logo is your brand, it will be used everywhere, so this is one place you don’t want to skimp on.

Dropbox – file syncing and storage

Dropbox is an app you will use more than you think you will. You can sync files across all of my devices and without having to think about it. I store my working files in Dropbox so I can access them anywhere.

When I need to share files with someone, sending a Dropbox link is much easier and faster then sending numerous emails back and forth.

Technology

Apple MacBook Pro 13 – keeps my business moving

My MacBook is pretty much the hub of everything I do to sell t shirts online and run my business. Its and compact making it great for working in small spaces like my car, airplanes or coffee shops.

I do a lot of my design work on my MacBook but it’s also great for working on “business” tasks like writing, researching, social media, etc…

For me, it is the perfect laptop to help me stay productive at home and away.

Canon EOS Rebel T6 Camera – product and brand photos

The Canon Rebel T6 is my newest upgrade from using a regular digital camera. I wanted better image quality and better low-light performance. The Canon Rebel is still one of the most affordable DSLR cameras on the market and has the same image sensor as the more expensive Canon 5D.

I use the Canon for all my site images and images I take for social media, it is fast, easy to use if you’re a newbie to using a DSLR camera.

The Canon let’s me take beautiful shots of all my t-shirts, and beautiful images of your t-shirts is the first thing potential customers will see, so you want them to crisp, clear and beautiful.

Seagate 1TB  External Hard Drive – external hard drive

I have gone through the heartache of having a hard drive fail on me and losing a ton of files before. To make sure that never happens again, I now use a 1TB external drive by Seagate. I keep it connected to my MacBook just for backing up my important files.

Using MacBook’s built-in Time Machine feature to automatically clone my hard drive and back up everything without ever having to think about it.

Galaxy Note 5 – does it all

I’ve been using an Galaxy Note since the first one and have had them all and now I have the Note 5. Once you get over the size, it is the best phone I have ever used…Period. It’s fast, the screen resolution is crisp, the camera, and video quality are amazing.

If for some reason I don’t have my Mac with me, the Note 5 let’s me pretty much run my business “sell t shirts online” the same way as the Mac, just on a smaller screen.

I use it every day to shoot photos, send emails and monitor and update social media.

Packaging and Shipping

Many people have asked me what I use for shipping when I sell t shirts online, so I figured I’d add it here to help get some guesswork out of the process. In my package, I like to add in a logo sticker and a Thank You letter.

Poly Mailer Envelopes

I use poly mailer envelopes because they are high quality and keep t=shirts safe. Plus they are much less expensive on shipping.

I use black, but you can use any color you like.

USPS Self Adhesive Shipping Labels

You will need shipping labels for USPS, I buy them in bulk to save money.

Custom Logo Stickers

Custom stickers added into your t-shirt packaging is an inexpensive way to promote your brand and boost your customer experience.

I have used stickers in my packaging for years, and it still surprises me at how happy customers get when they get them. Probably the smartest and cheapest way to make your customers to remember you.

I will continue to keep this list updated so that you can see what we are using TODAY that will help you in starting a tshirt business and sell t shirts online.
